Uniqueness

At times I wonder if I am strong enough to be me. To be an individual is a mightily rare thing. Imagine that, to be one’s self, to not be the creation of another’s desperation, to not be the creation of your own desperation, to not have to rely upon another’s acceptance…

The temptation to fall back into the fold increases as the isolation of being unique grows. I see this uniqueness in every moment but I think that we humans were not very well made for being alone. Ultimately, what being alone really amounts to is the acceptance of one’s momentary potentiality. Uniqueness is a moment, a solitary moment. That moment is you. It is me.

Groups, peers, affiliations, lovers, beliefs, dogmas, ideologies, cultures, religions, societies, countries, nationalities… what way hasn’t man created to assure himself of his worth? Yet here I stand, outside of these creations having not-created myself. And what a creation I am! This body of mine, decaying with life, grows with death. Once, I felt time’s passage and I sought some way of alighting from its motion until I discovered that I myself was time.

I have an instinctive aversion to traps. I feel them, you see, the psychological ones. I sense them and when I do, a silent warning sign sounds. These traps are everywhere and nowhere. They are deviously non-existent. They set themselves up according to the value you give them. With this in mind, you ought to consider yourself as the ultimate bait for the ultimate hunter in the ultimate hunt. This hunt has no meaning when you learn who the hunter is.
