Tales of Courage
Gari and Aho were long time friends.
Gari was a very friendly, clever and talkative parrot who used to love flying up to try and touch the sun. Deep down, he knew that he could never actually reach it but that shiny ball in the sky used to always tempt him to at least try.
Aho, a donkey, was friendly and clever as well and while he tried very hard to understand his friend’s fascination with touching the sun, he was more interested in tending to the garden patches that lay along the river that flowed from the mountain nearby.
On one particularly fine morning, with the sun shining brightly and bathing the land in warm sunlight Gari, in his usual conversative self, convinced himself that, “THIS is the day I’ll finally reach the sun. I’m going to do it!”
Committed, resolved and with his eyes on the target, Gari also convinced Aho to carry him up to the nearby mountain – Mount Muri – from where he would be able to launch himself towards his cherished goal.
In preparation for the trip, supplies were readied and loaded onto Aho’s back. Water and grains were purchased from a nearby town (a poster calling attention to the supply store had been attached to a tree close by) as well as a map to the top of Mount Muri.
So with all of their supplies purchased and in order, the two friends began Gari’s journey to the top of Mount Muri from where Gari would be able to finally achieve his goal of touching the sun…
