New Scenery

What we do is a reminder of morality – and mortality. Knowledge has nothing to with courage and everything to do with darkness. This is why an inspiration can be like a flash that explodes out of nowhere. This inspiration is so bright that it is not easily seen.

Those who think that life is a skill to be perfected do not understand the meaning of sacrifice. They are always trying to be successful and are too wary of failure. They spend their time seeking guarantees and deafened by the noise of their thoughts, they do not hear how quiet it actually all is.

If you could but listen carefully, you would hear the silence of all those who persevered before. In hearing this, you would also hear the wailing futility of those who never gave up and in whose discipline was discovered the means to nowhere.

Without sensitivity, they can only progress. This progress is like the callouses on the palms of their hands and so they deaden themselves and think this virtuous. Fossilised, an object of veneration, they worship their success at discipline. Such discipline! Still, there is no need to hasten the end result by trying to avoid it.

There needs to be no concern over the contradictions. Do not try to find a way to encompass them. Do not try to unify them. Learn to breathe instead, in the space that lives between them. In doing so, you come to see how we have always given God arms and legs.

Life starts off one-to-one but with faith comes a widening of the horizon and so the numbers seem to increase. One could see in this the singularity of eternity but really, it simply reveals the value of being able to smile when looking in mirrors.

We can say that each moment is pregnant with possibilities and that birth is a good time for new beginnings but few like to fumble around for a second time.

What is the use of eyes if they are not used for seeing? What is the use of ears if they are not used for hearing? A life lived without gratitude must be a lonely life and yet it is no difficult thing to enjoy a life of distractions. A step in the right direction is often seen as being lead astray but a person with eyes will often relish the new scenery in front of him.
