Immediacy
Man’s vision narrows; he sees one, or the other, but rarely both. His tools are his own, given to him through what is given, seeing only what they are allowed to see. For what reason then is there surprise when the carpenter blames his tools? And yet accepted for what they are those tools are capable enough; vision no longer requires squinting and sight expands to see continuously, moment by moment.
This sight is the result of movement. Visions of the future are the readings of current hopes. Another word for this is desire. Some may name it, greed. Whatever the term used, consider that those possessing foresight are able to see ahead precisely because there is no difference between the current moment and the next. Stepping into the future, we may then say that foresight is the knack of not requiring intermediate steps.
This is oracular movement – blind to closure, open to seeing and living in time.
